The new, high-tech facility replaces depots at Sunderland Road in Gateshead and Winlaton, that date back to the days of the tramways.
The depot, built by Surgo, breathes new life into 5.75 acres of derelict brownfield land on Handy Drive, which was formerly the site of Dunston Power Station.
